Civil Engineer

The field of civil engineering is by far a unique one.  There aren’t many careers that have so many applications.  At the same time, it is one that can be extremely difficult in which to succeed.  That is why it is so crucially important that you find yourself Civil Engineer scholarships in order to pay for school.  Going into Civil Engineering may also require you to have a masters degree, which will cost even more of your dollars.  Trust me, you don’t want to take that out in loans.  That will end up tying up your bank account for the next few decades.

Being a civil engineer can usually go one of two ways.  You can either get a job in the private sector and make lots of money, or you can work with the government and not make so much money (but you get excellent benefits!)  The key is to be able to have someone else pay for that education.

Civil Engineering Jobs

Believe it or not, one of the most prevalent departments that hire civil engineers is the DoD (or Department of Defense).  Of course, you will probably be paid comparable to a military salary, so you will want to make sure that the government pays for your masters degree.  With this field being so advanced, you probably not be able to get where you want to go with just a BS.

The Key To Succeed

If you are looking for civil engineering scholarships, you will want to keep in mind that the government has lots and lots of money appropriated for this exact purpose.  That said, the US government loves to educate students that show promise.  The US military does this all the time: the get a kid to join the military under the pretense that the US Government will pay the tuition, and then they have a contract for 4 years.  This is excellent for the student for the express fact that the student is not only paid on the college loans, but there is a guarantee of a job when he or she gets out.

The best way to go is to look to the US Government for the best scholarships in the area of civil engineering.  Of course, when that fails, you can always try to get scholarships out of private trusts, funds, and corporations that have uses for you as well.  Civil engineers are not a dime a dozen.  You are probably much more valuable than you think.

If you are hoping to find a civil engineering scholarship, then you may want to try one of these:

SMART Scholarship
The Science, Mathematics And Research for Transformation (SMART) Scholarship for Service Program has been established by the Department of Defense (DoD) to support undergraduate and graduate students pursuing degrees in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) disciplines. The program aims to increase the number of civilian scientists and engineers working at DoD laboratories.

WWOAP Scholarship
The WWOAP Scholarship Committee annually awards scholarship money to any WWOAP member in good standing, to his or her dependent; or to a deserving student in his or her pursuit of higher education. Depending on the level of interest in the program and the funds available, the Association will award up to two scholarships in the amount of $2,500. The successful applicant must be a Pennsylvania resident, but may select an out-of-state institution (such as a technical institute, college, university or graduate school*).

ASCO Numatics Industrial Automation Engineering Scholarships
ASCO Numatics will award two, $5,000 merit-based scholarships to exceptional U.S. undergraduate and graduate engineering students who are pursuing careers in industrial automation-related disciplines (manufacturing and processing engineering). Applicants must have completed their sophomore year in a bachelor s degree program or be enrolled in a graduate program at the time of application.
